What You’ll Be Doing
Lead Billing Operations
- Oversee all daily and monthly billing cycles, ensuring invoices are accurate, timely, and aligned with customer contracts.
- Manage multiple revenue streams — from recurring services to usage-based models and project billing.
- Ensure complete reconciliation between billing, delivery, and contract data.
Accuracy & Assurance
- Partner with Revenue Assurance and Commercial Finance to resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain a strong control environment and audit-ready records.
- Own key billing KPIs and tackle root causes of errors.
Process Improvement
- Challenge inefficient or manual processes and lead smart, scalable solutions.
- Collaborate across IT, operations, and transformation teams to automate workflows.
- Drive platform upgrades or system enhancements to keep billing future-ready.
Team Leadership
- Coach, develop, and motivate a team of billing specialists to deliver high performance.
- Set clear goals, measure results, and celebrate wins.
- Build a culture of ownership, accountability, and service excellence.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Work closely with Sales, Service Delivery, and Customer Success to keep billing aligned with service milestones.
- Act as the go-to escalation point for complex billing queries.
- Support the Head of Operational Finance in building a future-fit billing function.
Ensure Compliance & Control
- Keep everything aligned with UK GAAP, IFRS, and internal standards.
- Support external audits and regulatory requirements.
- Deliver structured objectives that align with wider business goals.
What You’ll Bring
Must-Haves
- Solid experience in billing, revenue operations, or order-to-cash.
- Strong grasp of billing systems, controls, and revenue recognition.
- High attention to detail and a proactive problem solver.
- Confident challenging the status quo and driving change.
- Previous team leadership experience.
- Advanced Excel and experience with ERP/billing platforms.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience in tech, telecoms, or managed services.
- Familiarity with usage-based or subscription billing.
- Exposure to finance transformation or system implementation.
Qualifications & Skills
- Finance qualification is desirable
- Proven experience in month-end close, cash forecasting, team leadership, and audit control
- Advanced Excel and BI reporting skills.
- A calm, confident communicator who thrives in fast-moving environments.
